We assisted Swarovski in developing a B2B platform that fosters both inspiration and collaboration.
With over 2,500 stores in 170 countries, Swarovski is one of the world's leading manufacturers and retailers of glass crystals. In addition to serving private customers, Swarovski supplies renowned fashion and luxury brands such as Chanel, Prada, Montblanc, Dolce & Gabbana, and Valentino. Since the 1950s, the company has collaborated with iconic designers like Alexander McQueen, Coco Chanel, Elsa Schiaparelli, and Cristobal Balenciaga. Fun fact: The star atop the iconic Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in NYC is crafted by Swarovski.
The Task
To enhance collaboration with luxury brands, Swarovski enlisted Etribes in 2017, where Sparkpark's Partner Dustin Lundt served as Creative Director. We were tasked with conceptualizing a B2B platform that would enable the client's creative teams to develop ideas with direct access to Swarovski's products. Additionally, the client's buyers would have the capability to collaborate on these projects and order the desired quantities of crystals. We named this platform Salon Privée.
Inspiration for Designers
Swarovski not only offers an extensive array of crystals but also inspires creativity. The entire range is organized around various main trends and subtrends, with different shapes and colors grouped into collections.
Inspirational Elements
To represent these worlds, we designed trend pages composed of diverse content elements: images and galleries, text, videos, and interactive detail tiles and flags that link to the catalog's product pages. The product pages, in turn, highlighted the relevant trends and subtrends and provided alternative product suggestions, creating a seamless cycle of inspiration.
A Personal Environment for Key Accounts
We also focused on personalization. Each client receives an individual feed with updates on their projects and new inspiration recommendations based on their previous use of Salon Privée. Displaying the client's brand alongside the Swarovski logo is a crucial communication strategy to strengthen the partnership, coupled with a personalized approach to the user.
Product Catalogue
To meet and satisfy demand, every element is linked to the Swarovski assortment. Listings and product detail pages connect to related trends and alternative options.
Knowledge and Support
Working with crystals on various products, such as clothing, bags, shoes, watches, jewelry, or perfume bottles, requires specialized knowledge. Each crystal offers different processing possibilities, including gluing, setting, and embedding in other materials. This expertise, along with all support features, forms the core of the "Know How" navigation element, though its detailed content cannot be displayed here.
Multiple Collaborative Lists
Products are organized into various custom-created lists. Customers can invite their team members to collaborate on these lists, with different user permissions that can be managed by the list owner.
Save Inspirations in Lists
We implemented Pinterest-like features, enabling users to save inspiration elements such as flags and image galleries. This allows products to be stored on lists while also being appreciated within the full ideation context.
Enhance Projects with Personal Inspirational Content
Moreover, users had the option to save external inspiring content, such as product plans and fashion drawings, to these lists. To facilitate this feature, we designed an easy-to-use upload and editing function.
Comment and Collaborate
We implemented a comment function that enabled various users to exchange information about all stored elements, providing a crucial communication tool for collaboration across different roles.
This project is a concept that has been proposed to Swarovski but has not yet been implemented for strategic reasons.
