The Sparkpark Design Process.
How we create and rethink digital products.
Planning
Stage 1
Party is over for coincidences. We are creating products with a solid base that consists of information and knowledge.
Clarify the purpose of the product
What problem does it solve, what benefit does it bring?
Defining target groups & roles
We need to know who exactly is using the app or website so we can target it to the audience. We also need to define the individual roles to understand user flows, create the right entry points and solve their problems.
Collecting needs and pain points
What exactly do we have to think about when developing the product? What are no-go's and what do we have to pay special attention to?
What is the surrounding like?
We have to look around what the market situation is. What are other players doing and how will we stand out?
How will the product be used?
Do we need to do desktop or mobile first? App or website? What is the best format for this case?
Preconcept
Stage 2
Rough sketches of the product are helping to find the vision to align client, designer developer and other stakeholders.
Flow clusters
We cluster similar needs of the target groups to processes/flows. This will help us to create flow charts and content storylines alter on.
Flowchart development
Our flowcharts will help us understand where the user is coming from and what is the main goal in the process. This helps to stay on track in the design process.
High-level site map
As a forerunner of wireframes, a high-level sitemap can already help us to estimate the project effort more precisely.
Prototype
Stage 3
A detailed plan with all requirements will be created to discuss and test the product early stage.
Wireframing & prototyping
A rapid prototype is not only quickly testable but also ensures a smooth design process.
Information architecture
We create a structural design of information to define what info comes on what point of the user flow.
Navigation concept
Our goal is to create an intuitive navigation structure that gets users to their goals as easily as possible, without getting lost at any point.
First design vision
With the first wireframes created we love to present a first glimpse on a design vision.
Design
Stage 4
Consistent, remarkable design that empowers the concept and delights the audience.
Design definition
With the information we gathered in the first phase 'Planning', we are able to find a design language that meets all the defined requirements and can convey the message of the content.
Consistent design system
Creating and maintaining a scalable design system that works great on every device and ensures readability and accessibility is something we do before breakfast. We are thinking in atoms, molecules and organisms.
Development Support
Stage 5
We are no developers. But we are here to support them however we can to keep the development process as fast and sleek as possible.
Prio 1 mentality
Almost nothing is more important to keep the development process running. We are answering fast and solve problems asap.
Easy-to-use designs
We are working with high-performance design that support generated code for CSS, iOS, and Android as well as the easy export of assets.
